National Institute of Design (NID) is going to conduct the NID Entrance Exam also called as Design Aptitude Test (DAT). NID selects the candidates based on Design Aptitude Test followed by Studio Test and Personal Interview. Candidates can take the admissions in the bachelor level designing Course after qualifying the entrance examination.

Eligibility Criteria for BDS Programme
Educational Qualification
Students those who have completed 10+2 or its equivalent qualification from a recognized board of education during the academic year 2016-17 can eligible to apply
Age limit:
- Candidate’s upper age limit should be 20 years as on or before July 1, 2017
- Reserved category candidates will be age relaxation of 3 years
Eligibility Criteria for MDS Programme
Educational Qualification
Students those who have completed or appearing in Bachelors Degree in any Discipline before July 2017, are eligible to apply
Age limit:
- Candidate’s upper age limit should be 30 years as on or before July 1, 2017
- Reserved category candidates will be age relaxation of 3 years

NID Exam Pattern
- DAT Prelims will be conducted in two parts.
- DAT Mains for M.Des will consist of two parts: studio test and interviews.
- It is a pen and paper based test.
- The question paper will contain both objective and subjective type.
- There will be total 100 points each for DAT prelims and DAT mains.
- The time assigned to answer the DAT prelims question paper is 3 hours.
- The question paper language will be English only.
- There is no negative marking.

- Commencement of online application form – 4th week of October 2017
- Last date to submit the application form without late fee – 4th week of November 2017
- Last date to submit the application form with late fee – 1st week of December 2017
- Last date for submission of printed application form – 1st week of December 2017
- Downloading DAT Prelims Admit Card – 3rd week of December 2017
- DAT prelims exam (M.Des, B.Des, GDPD) – 2nd week of January 2018
- DAT Mains exams for overseas candidates (M.Des and B.Des) – 2nd week of January 2018
- Admit card downloading for DAT mains for M.Des – 2nd week of February 2018
- Admit card downloading for DAT mains for B.Des and GDPD – 1st week of March 2018
- DAT Mains for M.Des – 4th week of Mach 2018

NID Admissions
Admission to all of the design courses at NID will be done on the basis of two-stage competitive exam i.e. DAT (Prelims) and DAT (Mains). Candidates who have completed both tests can get admissions. Candidates have to report to the respective NID campus along with the necessary documents. Documents should be produced in the original.
