She learned Carnatic music and she used to participate in numberof shows and competitions. She also used to give number of classical performances in various competitions. In one such competition in which she won, A.R. rahaman came to distribute prizes and later invited the winners to his studio to test their voices. Simultaneoulsy she was called by Suhaisni maniratnam to sing a song for debut movie. She sung for many films and has numerous hits in her career. She has also received number of awards for her best play back singing.
